Graphic,Chamber of Commerce to promote businesses in Ghana
The Graphic Communication Group Limited and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry

(GNCCI) have agreed in principle to collaborate to promote businesses in the country.

This was the outcome between the two organizations during a courtesy call of the chamber on the management of the GCGL in Accra yesterday.

The President of the GNCCI, Mr. Wilson Attah Krofah, said research by the institution has shown that daily graphic was the most credible news paper in the country.

He said the research, conducted among its members has shown that most members of the Chamber found the contents of the paper as highly credible and trustworthy.

Speaking during the meeting with the Managing Director of GCGL, Mr. Krofah said there was, therefore the need for the two institutions to collaborate to ensure the development of the private sector.

Mr. Krofah, who led a four member delegation of national officers of the Chamber on the visit, said collaboration between the two organizations was long overdue, as they serve the common interest of promoting the private sector.

He said the chamber has been at the forefront of advocacy to ensure lower cost of doing business in the country

The delegation included the First and Second Vice-Presidents, Mr. Seth Adjei-Baah and Mr. prosper Adablah, respectively, and Mr. Sal. Doe Amegavie, the Chief Executive Officer of the GNCCI.

“We need a strong partnership with the media to ensure sound policies that facilitate and promote the private sector,” Mr. Krofah stated.

He commended the management of the GCGL for introducing Graphic Business to focus more on business activities in the country in an era when most newspapers had become politically biased.

He said the chamber had undertaken activities that will integrate and facilitate business across borders in the West African sub-region and that had culminated in the re-activation of the Federation of the West African Chamber of Commerce and Industry for which Ghana holds the Presidency.

Mr. Adjei-Baah said contrary to the reports of failed businesses in the country, there were many successful local companies doing quite well and there was, therefore, therefore the need to highlight  those success stories. Mr. Adablah for his part said the chamber has been advocating lower taxes for businesses, as higher taxes could hamper business growth in the country.

The Managing Director of the GCGL, Mr. Ibrahim Lawal, said the company said the company’s brand has gone beyond news coverage to providing business solutions for companies in the country.

He said Graphic Business was launched to offer businesses an opportunity to grow and also to deliver timely news analysis relevant to their needs.

He said the company had eight brands which were targeted at different segments of business, saying they had delivered good returns for businesses in terms of advertising reach.

He added that the company ha, over the past years, also set the agenda for national discourse and mentioned the annual Graphic Business Roundtable forum as one example of a forum as one example of a forum meant to discuss business issues of national concern.

Mr. Awal said the company as poised to deliver even better products, as it would, in October 2010, inaugurate its new US $20 million printing press which has the capacity to print 75,000 copies in an hour and more colour pages to meet expectations of the business community.
