SOD CUTTING OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF GNCCI HEAD OFFICE COMPLEX

The Ghana

National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) witnessed another landmark ceremony on 12th April, 2018 of a sod cutting ceremony which was performed to commence the construction of their Ultra-Modern Office Complex. The Project aims at providing a permanent office for the Chamber. The CEO of the Chamber, Mr. Mark Badu-Aboagye, in his welcome address stated that, it was a relief to commence   an office complex that the Chamber could claim ownership of because moving from one place to another seeking for office space was a job on its own.

The president of the Chamber, Nana Dr. Appiagyei Dankanwoso 1 expressed his gratitude to everyone present at this important occasion and used the occasion to commend the immediate past president of the Chamber, under whose tenure the land was secured. He continued that, it wasn’t out of place that the sod cutting ceremony was witnessed by both new and old council members. This shows how important this great initiative means to everyone connected to the Chamber.   The office complex upon completion, will give the Chamber a permanent place they can call their own and will put an end to the Chamber’s incessant renting of office spaces for its National Secretariat and regional offices at high cost with its accompanying high maintenance issues. It will also help the Chamber to better support its members and start-ups. He further stated that, the Chamber is committed to serving as the link between the private sector and government at the various levels while offering its members a myriad of business support services.

He said the building complex will be a two (2) storey –building, with provisions for future expansion, with an estimated cost of US$3.2 million. The surface or ground floor will have a reception, lift and staircase areas occupying an area of 66 square metres and a 34-car parking capacity.

The first floor will have conference rooms occupying about 625 square metres while the second floor will have the Chamber offices occupying about 603 square metres.

Hon. Alan Kyerematen, Minister for Trade and Industry, who cut the sod with the President of GNCCI, congratulated the leadership of the Chamber for this worthwhile initiative of securing and providing a permanent office space for the Chamber.  He expressed hope that, the completion of this building will contribute to the enhancement of the success of the Chamber. He said the private sector can depend on the government to increase the macro economy to help the business environment to grow and develop.

He posited that the Chamber was a long-standing partner of government and had together with government worked on most of its flagship projects such as the One District One Factory, Stimulus package for viable but distressed companies and the establishment of industrial parks, among others.

He also encouraged the Chamber to continuously work hand in hand with the government to bring about development and growth to the nation by building a strong private sector which will help move Ghana beyond Aid.

Some of the dignitaries who graced the occasion were, the Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. Alan Kyerematen,  Presidsent of GNCCI, Nnaan Dr. Dankanwosoo 1, CEO of the Chamber, Mr. Mark Badu-Aboagye, Hon. Dr. Seth ADJEI-Baah, immediate past president of GNCCI, Very Rev.Isaac Kweku Sam among others.

Very Rev. Isaac Kweku Sam prayed for a successful completion of this important project.
