GNCCI-RAINBOW CONSULTS HELD A SEMINAR ON THE "FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION"
The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Rainbow Consult
and CIPE held a seminar under the theme “FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION” on Wednesday 3rd July, 2019 at Alisa Hotel.
The President of the Chamber, Nana Dr. Appiagyei Dankawoso I, who chaired the program elaborated that his outfit will continue to collaborate with the various institution to fight corruption in the business domain. He further mentioned the need for the private sector to pay more attention to anti-corruption measures in their corporate practices and called on them to rise to the task to guarantee their sustainability.
He said it is time the private sector develop interest in dealing with corruption in their business because government is taking measures to deal with corruption in the public sector through the establishment of the special prosecutor’s office.
Managing partner at Rainbow Consult, Madam Margaret Jackson on her part, highlighted some ethical solutions to the issues of corruption which if followed can tone down the act. She urged businesses to desist from corrupt practices. She called on private businesses to improve upon internal corporate ethics and also do away with all forms of corrupt practices. She maintained that Ghanaian businesses should strive to be in compliance and obey the various national and traditional laws, regulations and seek to attain the expected standards.
Speaking on “Business Ethics and Integrity, Corruption Risk in Ghana” she noted that, it is high time the private sector in the country look more into the ethics of anti-corruption. She further explained that anti-corrupt firms attract ethically minded investors hence the need to increase their potential in that regard to attract more investors.
The Chief Executive Officer of Dalex Finance, Mr. Kenneth Thompson on his part called on business owners to also stay away from those acts. He added that, those practices renders business uncompetitive as it further results in increasing the cost of doing business.
